Between Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds, The Forge is located less than an 18 mile drive away and both are also easily accessed by train from Newmarket.
Saxon Street village enjoys easy access to several public footpaths through local studs offering an abundance of rambling opportunities. If you like walking with a purpose then we are fortunate to have two pubs serving good food and beer both accessible via public footpaths and pavement.
Newmarket boasts two racecourses; Rowley Mile racecourse is less than a 10 minute drive and the July course only 6 miles away. The latter is adjacent to The National Stud, the only working commercial stud farm to allow members of the public behind the scenes.
Newmarket town centre is home to Palace House, the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art situated in Charles II’s sporting palace and stables.
If you are visiting Granary Barns Estate for a wedding/event, it’s just over a mile away and accessible via public footpath through Rutland Stud or a very short drive.
Slightly further afield you can explore the University city of Cambridge or discover the historic towns of Ely and Bury St Edmunds.
